People of Rossendale to have their say
Published: Wednesday 29th October 2008
Thousands of people in Rossendale will be asked for their views about what it’s like to live in the area.
During the next few weeks, more than 3,000 households in Rossendale will receive a questionnaire asking for residents to give their views on a range of issues and services including crime and anti-social behaviour, health, local facilities and council services such as parks, refuse and recycling collection, and street cleaning.
The 'Place' survey will take place in all council's across the country with the same core set of questions in each area so that national trends and comparisons can be made. The survey is a Government requirement.
In a money-saving initiative, Rossendale Council, Lancashire County Council and all the other district councils in Lancashire have joined forces to arrange the survey. By working jointly Rossendale has been able to commission the survey more cheaply.
The survey differs from previous surveys because it now includes questions about all local services, not just council services.
The survey is an important way for Rossendale Council, Lancashire Country Council and their partners to identify how people feel about their local area and the issues that are of most concern and importance to them.
The two councils and their partners will use the survey results to listen to what people have to say and act on those views by developing policies and services which will improve the borough and make life better for its residents.
Any residents in Rossendale who receive a questionnaire are being asked to fill it in and send it back as soon as they can. The two councils and their partners want to hear from as many people as possible.
